Monocoupe History
Our
website, monocoupe.com is dedicated to Monocoupe Aeroplane and Engine
Company enthusiasts worldwide. This site chronicles the legacy of
America's first two place, enclosed cabin monoplane, and the airplane
believed by many to be the greatest Sportsman Pilot Airplane ever
manufactured. From humble Midwestern beginnings in October, 1926 until
the final Model 90AL rolled out of the Melbourne, Fla. plant in 1950, a
total of approximately 870 Monocoupes
representing 17 different
Models were built. Now, only about 155 remain, of which less than 30
are active and flying. Take a look at the way things were back in the
golden age of aviation.
